Bondage ~ Kink or Fetish?

Bondage kink or fetish? Is there a difference? In my mind yes. I have to admit that up until recently I did not see much of a difference between the kink and fetish communities. It was some of the comments and feedback I received after my bondage workshop that brought to light the very real differences in the two. The workshop was focused on how to tie up your partner in a safe and oh so very secure manner with inexpensive rope. Also emphasized was bondage as a visual.

My rules were simple...no sex and keep your clothes on. No topless women OR men thank you very much. Keep your titties and hairy chest to yourself. Check your bag of sex toys at the door too.

What I did, and this is in the eyes of those involved in the kink/BDSM community, is divorce the event from kink and put it squarely into fetish. That would make me a fetishist and not necessarily a kinkster. The past 4 years or so I have had a look at the kink/BDSM community and to tell the truth, have found it chock full of drama. One could write a book on it and I certainly cannot begin to give it justice in this journal entry. Suffice to say, I want little or anything to do with it.

Look up the meaning of the word fetish and where it originated from. An object of mystical powers. A good looking woman, beautifully attired in tight artistic bondage has a power over you M? Oh yah. =D

Bondage=BDSM=Sex?

My little bondage workshop that I wrote about in my last journal entry was a roaring success. A roaring success in my mind at any rate and I went away pleased as punch. Helen bravely volunteered to be my canvas or demo model for the event and oh lord did she put on a show. Allowing yourself to be tied up and photographed at a closed shoot is one thing. To be bound and displayed on a table in front of a crowd of 25 strangers, then have Uncle M invite the audience up front for a very close up look to study the bound canvas, is quite another.

Helen was attired Pinup style and was wearing the red waist cincher and skirt Sisi created for our Steam Punk shoot. Black stay up stockings gave Helen's legs a nice sexy sheen. A pair of black knee high boots, (Helen called them "Hooker" boots) and a long fur lined coat completed Helen's look. I was attired in clothing that made me feel comfortable when in front of an audience which is slacks, dress shirt, jacket and tie. Together, Helen and I presented an image to the audience that was far removed from what one would expect at an event such as this, which was our intent.

As I was introducing Helen to the assembled masses, my little canvas slowly undid her coat, slid it from her shoulders and revealed herself. Helen then took my hand, perched herself on the bondage table and proceeded to peel off her boots. She then sat there daintily as you please, kicking her delicate little nylon encased feet, toes pointed downward of course, waiting not so patiently for the bondage to begin.

The rules for the evening as set out by yours truly, was this is a no sex event, no expectations of nudity and check your play toys at the door. If there is not going to be any sex why would you feel the need to run around the room topless as so many women and men do at these events? That goes for the vibrators, whips, crops, canes, electrical stimulator's and the like.

Guess what. People appreciated the rules. Both men and women showed un-partnered but easily found somebody to either tie up or be tied up by. There were also some bondage newbies at the event as well. Women. Young and very attractive women. This was all very new to them and to a women, thought bondage and BDSM were one and the same. Of course where there is BDSM there is sex, again in their minds. It never occurred to them that there could be a separation between bondage and BDSM. Not only did I acquire several converts to our particular style of bondage, I picked up two new models as well. =D

Here endith the lesson.

Uncle M will demonstrate various restrictive ties with one of his Pinup bondage models, attired as a Pinup bondage model.  The experience for the model wearing pinup or fetish apparel vs comfortable clothing or no clothing at all is deliciously  different.  Come and discover how.
The Lounge offers ample space to pair off and practice rope skills.  Classes will consist of one hour of instruction followed by two hours of bondage play.  A suspension frame as well as various bondage equipment are offered by Libido      Lounge and will be made available during play time.  There is no expectation of nudity and this is a no sex event.  While there is no dress code, feel free to dress up a little or wear comfortable clothing to make the interactive portions   easier.  Rope in limited quantities will be available for loan.

Class # 1
Basic hogtie -  Uncle M will demonstrate how to hogtie your partner simply and effectively using a single length of rope and one basic knot.
Basic hogtie with crotch rope - The next step in hogtie bondage.  Discover a simple technique, effective on both the female and male partner,  that increases the security of the bondage and enhances the overall experience at the same time.

Class # 2
Chest Harness and Wrist Tie -  The classic chest harness is an easy to learn must know tie.  A chest harness serves as an anchoring point for wrists and ankles as well as suspension.  Properly done, a chest harness not only looks cool, it feels so good your bondage partner is not going to want to take it off.  A 50 foot length of rope will be used to demonstrate the tying of the harness and an additional 25 foot length for the wrists to harness bondage.  Uncle M will introduce a conical tool called a fid and show how this amazing tie is accomplished without the use of a single knot.

Class # 3
The "Helen" Hogtie - This ultimate hogtie was created for and perfected on one of Uncle M's favorite models and is named after her.  The hogtie consists of rope on the upper and lower arms, wrists, knees and ankles.  A 50 foot crotch rope secures the subject in what has to be one of the most deliciously intense hogties imaginable.  Uncle M will take close to an hour to complete this hogtie that consists of 200 feet of well placed rope.  This is a fun tie and plenty of time will be given for practice!

Where Do You Practice Your Ties?

Often I have been asked how long I have been practicing bondage, where and how I learned to tie but most of all, do I do practice runs.  The answer to those questions is I have been fascinated with bondage for as long as I can remember,  I learned a lot from studying photos and reverse engineering, and yes I do and have done practice runs.

Truth be known, I do not get in nearly as much practice to try out new ties than I would like to.  Most of my experimentation is done on the fly at photo shoots, usually but not always with happy results.  First order of the day would be to find a suitable partner to practice with.  Notice I said "with" and not "on."  Good bondage is about communication and a willingness to fully participate in the fun.  Nothing worse than having a limp body attached to a disinterested mind when it comes to this sort of thing.

Second order of business is to find a suitable location to practice the art of bondage.  Nothing like a plumpish, balding, middle aged man standing on the models doorstep, rope bags in hand, video camera slung over a shoulder and saying with a toothy grin, "Hiya..ready to get tied up?" to start the day off I say.  Oh dear.  Lets try and be a bit more professional shall we.

Take the same man with the same kit with the same model and put them in a studio space with a professional photographer and we have something completely different.  "You sly dog Uncle M."  Indeed.  A very good friend of mine, and I'm going to pimp her out here, Jennifer owner of Libido Lounge   http://www.libidoevents.com/ does have a wonderful space where I have on many occasions practiced my craft. Jennifer holds an event called Exporatorium (the event description can be found on the calendar) where I can be found at the restrictive bondage booth.  Oh my, a double pimp.  How utterly shameful of me.

Exploratorium is where I will be this Friday evening and I'm bringing a cookie.  Practice, practice, practice.

Cheers!
